Many have been saying that education is one of the most important thing in life that moulds one's future. But is education everything? What defines education? It has been perceived by many naive "ones" as an academic learning and thus striving for the elite qualification as much as they could. Others may strongly believe that education comes in many forms to upgrade one's life. With it, many feel that they could smell success when undergoing the process of education. Is education equals to success?
Many have differing views and there is no 1 right answer for this question instead we should ponder on the fact that we are the ones who mould the perception or guidelines to life in this world in turn- education. We have been the ones determining on what is right and what is wrong. Have you ever wonder if the country's success or way of life is based on talents substituting academic qualifications? Then wont talents be prioritised?
With the fast-paced and globalised world we live in, it is by no doubt hard for many to adapt.Or to "swim in the strong current". In developed countries where she is dependant greatly on her people tends to stress the importance of education and that there is no room for "failures". It might not be visible or heard but certaintly is happening. People who cannot keep up with the fast-paced in Singapore are deemed as "failures"? And is it totally their fault? It is undeniable that Singapore have to constantly upgrade her education system as that is their strength but have they ever wonder what is the opportunity cost? What is forgone? Quality life!
What truly defines quality life? Is it generating high income, getting the most desirable job, having the 5 Cs-car,condominium,credit card, cash and country club BUT not getting to enjoy it? It is an irony how it seems that many have gotten to a situation where they are at the top but too "addicted" to go higher that they blatantly "forgot" how to savour their achievements?
So, is material wealth the only component to human satisfaction?
We possibly cannot rule out that money is important or else how are we suppose to purchase anything? That alone was a transformation caused by human's increased education level whom previously feel barter trading was inefficient hence the formation of money supply.
Education is the root to many things but it is the owner who has to water it (nurture) ; give it fertilisers (value-add); and stem it well (moulding the future through vision) and we will be able to upgrade oneself.
But do not stop there. It is not sufficient to just concentrate on making it healthy and beautiful if there is no one appreciating it. No matter how the going gets tough, be able to swim through the high currents but stay rooted to your principles and live life to the fullest.
